How to clean a shower head (remove limescale)

A clogged, dull shower head? That’s just limescale gate-crashing your daily rinse. Here’s how to kick it out with Loo Tabs power.

What you need

✔ Loo Tabs
✔ Bowl or jug of warm water (or zip bag + rubber band for fixed heads)
✔ Grout Brush (or Scrubby Pads)
✔ Ultra Pro Cloth

Shop below 👇

Step-by-step guide

Step 1
Dissolve 1–2 Loo Tabs in a bowl of warm water.

Step 2
If your shower head is removable, pop it straight into the solution and let it soak for 1–2 hours.

Step 3
For fixed shower heads, fill a zip bag with the Loo Tab solution, secure it over the head with a rubber band, and let it soak.

Step 4
Once soaking is done, remove and gently scrub nozzles with a Grout Brush or Scrubby Pads.

Step 5
Rinse thoroughly with clean water.

Step 6
Dry and buff to a shine with your Ultra Pro Cloth.

Pro tip

Do this monthly if you live in a hard water area — it keeps your shower spray strong and stops limescale turning your morning wake-up call into a sad drizzle.

Safety first: Avoid abrasive scrubbers or metal tools — they can scratch chrome or plated finishes.

Other notes

If your shower head is brass or nickel, keep soak times shorter (around 30 minutes) to protect the finish.

A quick buff with your Ultra Pro Cloth after every shower helps prevent build-up in the first place.
