Turmeric is brilliant in a curry, but not so brilliant when it decides to permanently accessorise your shirt. The deep yellow pigment, curcumin, binds tightly to fibres, which is why it’s infamous for hanging around. But don’t worry—Koh’s got the chemistry (and the cloths) to break it down without breaking your heart.
What you need
✔ Universal Cleaner with Atomiser
✔ General Cloth
✔ Cold water
✔ Laundry Liquid or Laundry Sheets for a final wash
Steps
Step 1
Act fast—blot (don’t rub!) the turmeric stain with cold water to stop it setting.
Step 2
Spray Universal Cleaner generously over the stain.
Step 3
Let it sit for 2–3 minutes; this loosens the curcumin pigments.
Step 4
Blot and gently work at the stain with the General Cloth
Step 5
Rinse in cold water and repeat if needed.
Step 6
Wash with Laundry Liquid as normal to finish the job.
Pro tips
• Sunlight can set turmeric stains, so keep your clothes in the shade until the stain’s gone.
• For older stains, soak in a Universal Cleaner + cold water mix before tackling with your cloth.
• Always use cold water—hot water makes turmeric bond tighter to fabric.
Safety first: Always, patch-test on delicate fabrics before use.
Other notes
• Turmeric stains may take a couple of attempts, especially on lighter fabrics—patience pays off.
• If in doubt, repeat the clean before throwing the item in the dryer (heat will lock in the stain forever).
• Works equally well on curry splatters and golden latte mishaps.
