How to clean an oven

The oven is often one of the most used appliances in the home – and especially in the kitchen. From weekend baking projects to midweek tray bake dinners, it can certainly get a good workout. But while other areas in your home might get a daily clean (think benchtops and floors) the oven can sometimes fall in the “too hard” category.

So if you’re noticing a, er, not so pleasant smell from your oven, or a build up of old food and bits, it’s probably time to give it a thorough cleaning. Looking for some oven cleaning hacks? Stick around as we share our natural oven cleaning solutions so you can clean your space while keeping you, your family and Mother Nature safe.

Eco-friendly oven cleaning tips

If you’re finding baked-on stains and spills are a little tricky to remove, we recommend pre-warming the oven to around 40-50°C. The warmth of the oven will help to loosen and soften any grease for an easier clean without the need for chemical sprays or foams. Just don’t forget to switch it off before you start scrubbing!

The Diamond Sponge is a powerful abrasive scrubber that makes light work of buildup. Designed with an alumina coating, apply minimal pressure when working the sponge over glass surfaces to avoid accidental scratches. On top of that, be gentle when cleaning around the wire trays to prevent the sponge from tearing.
