Ceiling fans: lifesavers in summer, dust catchers year-round. Clean them right, and you won’t end up with a dust storm raining down on your furniture.
What you need
✔ Dusting Mitts (x2)
✔ Plastic rubbish bag (for collecting dust)
✔ Universal Cleaner with Atomiser
✔ General Cloth
Step-by-step guide
Step 1
Switch off the fan and let the blades stop completely.
Step 2
Put on two Dusting Mitts. Use one hand to hold and steady the blade, while the other runs along the top to catch dust and grime. The dust usually balls up — grab it in your holding hand.
Step 3
Drop collected dust straight into your rubbish bag.
Step 4
If blades are greasy, spray Universal Cleaner, let sit for 2–3 minutes, then wipe with your General Cloth.
Step 5
Repeat for each blade until clean.
Pro tip
Stand high enough to look down on the blade — it makes spotting dust easier. Place an old towel underneath for stray dust.
Safety first: Have someone hold the step ladder steady while you clean. Wear a mask if you’re tackling years of build-up.
Other notes
Regular dusting with Mitts keeps fan cleaning quick and painless. A seasonal clean helps prevent dust blowing around the whole room.
