How to clean upholstery stains

From spilled wine to toddler snacks, your sofa probably sees more action than your dining table. The good news? You don’t need to panic (or cover it with a throw). Here’s how to spot clean and freshen upholstery without the drama.

What you need

✔ Universal Cleaner with Atomiser
✔ Sensitive Laundry Liquid (for wet vac cleaning)
✔ General Cloth
✔ Wet vac or carpet shampoo machine

Step-by-step guide

Step 1
Blot (don’t rub) the stain with a dry General Cloth.

Step 2
Spray Universal Cleaner onto the stained area and let sit for 2–3 minutes.

Step 3
Blot gently with the damp side of your cloth until the stain lifts.

Step 4
For stubborn or larger stains, fill your wet vac with water and a dash of Sensitive Laundry Liquid, then slowly clean the area.

Step 5
Run the vac again with clean water to rinse, and allow the fabric to air dry fully.

Pro tip

Quick action is your best defence — treat stains immediately.

Safety first: Avoid soaking upholstery — too much liquid can lead to mould or water rings. Always dry thoroughly.

Other notes

Always patch test a hidden spot before cleaning.

Keep cushions upright while drying to prevent watermarks.

A deep clean with Sensitive Laundry Liquid and a wet vac every 6–12 months helps prolong the life and look of your furniture.
