How to clean red wine stains from clothes

Red wine and laundry are rarely friends — but don’t panic. Universal Cleaner is a tannin-busting superhero that turns deep burgundy blotches into a sad little grey shadow you can easily wash away.

What you need

Step-by-step guide

Step 1
Blot (don’t rub) the wine spill with a damp General Cloth to lift excess liquid.

Step 2
Generously spray Universal Cleaner directly onto the stain.

Step 3
Let it sit for 2–3 minutes — the magic happens as the stain turns grey.

Step 4
Blot again with a damp General Cloth, lifting out the loosened stain.

Step 5
Rinse thoroughly under cold water.

Step 6
Repeat steps 2–5 if the stain lingers.

Step 7
Launder as usual — the Universal Cleaner has already done the heavy lifting.

Pro tip

Act fast — fresh stains are easier to tackle, and always use cold water to prevent tannins from setting.

Safety first: Always patch test on a hidden area of fabric first.

Other notes

Works best on fresh stains — older, set-in wine stains may need more than one go. Safe to use on most machine-washable fabrics. Avoid delicate fabrics like silk or wool.
